FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Deutsche Telekom ICSS Joins Arbinet Global Peering Community
Provides Access to 81 Million Mobile Subscribers in 11 Countries
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ, April 9, 2007 – Arbinet-thexchange, Inc. [Nasdaq: ARBX], a leading provider of solutions to simplify the exchange of digital communications, announced today that Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS) joined its global peering community which now totals 233 million telephone numbers from 74 service providers in 43 countries.
Through Arbinet’s PeeringSolutionsSM, Deutsche Telekom ICSS will be adding direct subscriber numbers across 11 countries into the neutral, industry managed SPIDER RegistrySM, enabling Deutsche Telekom to establish direct peering relationships and exchange traffic with a broad range of selected service providers, without the quality, complexity and security issues of establishing multiple direct relationships. Arbinet queries each inbound call attempt against a database supported by the SPIDER Registry and sends calls via its switches to the peering community Members based on instructions from this database.
Curt Hockemeier, President and CEO, Arbinet, commented, “Using PeeringSolutions, Deutsche Telekom ICSS will be able to route calls destined for their subscribers directly, significantly improving quality for their end users while increasing ACDs (Average Call Durations) and generating additional revenues on each inbound call attempt. Arbinet also provides Deutsche Telekom ICSS with secured settlement with 15 net 15 payment terms, enabling them to market access to their global networks from one central location, with no credit risk.”
As a result of this agreement, Arbinet’s 693 spot market Members will have access to Deutsche Telekom’s subsidiary and affiliate networks in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Macedonia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovak Republic, United Kingdom, and Republic of Serbia. Additionally, PeeringSolutions Members can immediately begin to establish direct peering relationships with Deutsche Telekom ICSS, gaining access to their global subscribers via their in-country networks.
Helmut Angst, Senior Executive Vice President, International Carrier Sales & Solutions Deutsche Telekom said, “As a result of joining Arbinet’s global peering community, we can ensure that calls are received at the highest levels of quality with reduced latency, improving our overall customer experience. Arbinet also guarantees transmission of CLI (Calling Line Identification) and roaming information, helping us to assure satisfaction for our customers. PeeringSolutions generates a new and immediate revenue stream for Deutsche Telekom ICSS that will continue to increase with the growth of the Arbinet global peering community.”
Arbinet’s global peering community now includes 74 service providers including Telecom Argentina, Telefonica Argentina, Columbus Communications Jamaica, Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica Chile, Telefonica Peru, Telmex Chile, and Verizon Dominicana. Providers can peer with one another without the complexities of signaling and protocol conversion and international settlement and can also obtain a full termination service enabling them to reach the world’s major mobile and fixed-line destinations through this same single interconnect.
