Arbinet-thexchange Opens AXCESSRATESM Spot Market Price and Quality Data to Non-Member Carriers and Other Constituents

NEW YORK – January 21, 2003 – Arbinet-thexchange, the full-service trading solution for buyers and sellers of voice minutes, announced today the decision to open AXCESSRATESM, its spot market price and quality data service, to non-Member carriers worldwide. AXCESSRATESM provides the actual average, high and low prices agreed upon between more than 250 carriers each day to 500+ top international destinations. Global buyers and sellers of wholesale voice capacity can now get vital information they need to run a competitive business at this critical time in the industry.

"Today’s wholesale telecommunications business is a game of high volumes, tight margins and rapidly changing prices and route performance," says Curt Hockemeier, President and CEO of Arbinet-thexchange. "A price difference of a fraction of a penny can be worth millions. This new product lets carriers buy and sell more accurately and maximize their wholesale business margin."

Taking the guesswork out of trading capacity, AXCESSRATESM provides real transaction data rather than generic price quotes, and includes:

  • Prior day’s price average

  • High and low transacted prices for more than 500 destinations

  • Average, high and low priced route quality, as measured through the switches

  • Percentage price change for each destination over the prior day

  • The top 10 price percentage gainers and losers over the prior day

AXCESSRATESM eliminates the speculation involved in negotiating the fair market price for each trade. Buyers avoid overpaying for termination, and sellers learn the true market value of their quality-differentiated routes.

"Until now, buyers and sellers estimated pricing by comparing multiple rate sheets," said Jan-Joost Rueb, Director of Business Development for thexchange. "AXCESSRATESM is the first daily pricing source derived from actual deal information."
