Arbinet Hires Dan Powdermaker to Lead Global Sales and Marketing

Dan Powdermaker Brings Proven Results and Industry Experience to the Company

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 6, 2009Arbinet-thexchange, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARBX), a leading provider of innovative voice and IP solutions for buying and selling telecommunications capacity, today announces it has hired Dan Powdermaker as the company’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In this role, Mr. Powdermaker will be charged with managing the global sales, marketing and product organizations that span Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the Americas and Asia and include both the international Voice and IP platform solutions.

Arbinet’s appointment of Dan Powdermaker marks the first addition to the executive management team by Shawn O’Donnell , who has been CEO of the company since September 2008. "With more than 17 years as a manager and executive in the Telecom industry, Mr. Powdermaker’s skills will further enhance Arbinet’s ability to position the company’s products and services to be more in synch with the telecom industry’s market demands and requirements," states Mr. O’Donnell.

Mr. Powdermaker brings extensive industry experience to Arbinet. Most notably, he was an original member of the iBasis, Inc. management team, where he oversaw a global sales, and business development organization that spanned twenty countries and grew revenues to more than $600 Million over a period of ten years. Prior to iBasis, Mr. Powdermaker worked in sales management and marketing positions at ATT and MFS Communications.
